I'm French. In my childhood I was a blank canvas. I didn't know it at the time, but growing up in Nigeria, France, Spain and Indonesia was colouring me. Vibrant, singing, startling clothes, colours, fabrics and decorations were everywhere. Having taken so much in, I knew I had to use all this, interpret and let it out to make it my artistic story.
I moved to London specialising in print and embroidery working with the emerging generation of fashion designers. I learned a lot. I learned I had to go my own way and move beyond fashion fabrics, past interior design, towards fine art.
Handwoven Textiles is the medium that lets me loose, presented and judged as art. I start with colours and textures, then I design. My aim is that the colour and pattern should dance, the elements should enter into a dialogue among themselves and then with the viewer. To my mind my work is music without notes, dance without bodies and sculpture without hard substance.
My artworks are made from natural silks, wools, cottons and linens sourced in the UK and in France.
